To spice things up a bit before National Signing Day, MaizenBrew’s Anthony Broome and myself will be producing dueling 2016 Michigan class predictions each Monday before National Signing Day which will be scored and counted up on February 4th to see who had the closest predictions.

As for my latest prediction:

• I once again went over the actual final number since there are at least 3 current commits that are “in limbo” as well as a couple commits that are being heavily pursued by other teams that may not actually sign with Michigan on NSD. But, until it’s a foregone conclusion, they’ll remain in the projection. The players in limbo include ATH Kiante Enis, DL Rashad Weaver and LB Dytarious Johnson.
• So, there are 33 names listed below after going off of The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb’s report of the class now getting up to 30 commitments ($). As for people saying that’s too many and would go over the limit, Michigan’s 7 early enrollees will count towards the 2015 class so they’d technically have 22 in 2016 (with one grayshirt).
• As for grayshirts, I still believe they’re possible and one of the commits below will remain in that category though it’s looking more and more likely that they receive a full scholarship.

1. QB: Brandon Peters, 6’5” 205lbs. Avon, IN (Avon)

After a fantastic visit for the Spring Game, Peters pulled the trigger and became Harbaugh’s first commitment for 2016. He has the size, smarts and arm to be a very good player under Harbaugh, and when you watch his tape, he reminds me a ton of Harbaugh’s #1 pupil, Andrew Luck, in terms of athleticism, accuracy, release and ability to make plays under pressure. He’ll be one of the main players to watch this spring to see if he can fight for the starting position after being an early enrollee.

2. RB: Kingston Davis, 6’1” 225lbs. Prattville, AL (Prattville) 

Davis isn’t the highest rated recruit and only held offers from three other Power 5 conference teams when Michigan offered him, but he could be one of the best players in this class. He has that power, size and athleticism combo that fits Harbaugh’s offense really well. Thanks to enrolling early, he’ll have a great chance to see the field in the season opener.

3. RB: Kareem Walker, 6’1” 210lbs. Wayne, NJ (De Paul Catholic)

Walker is one of the top running backs and players in the class. He has the size, speed and agility that Michigan is sorely missing in their stable. And thanks to the lack of a big play threat and his early enrollment, there’s a good chance that he sees the field early and often, as long as he develops and picks up the play book.

4. WR/ATH: Ahmir Mitchell, 6’3” 206lbs. Egg Harbor City, NJ (Cedar Creek)

Mitchell is one of the best athletes in the entire class and should be a great fit at wide receiver. While he’s still raw, he has that height, weight, speed combination everyone wants in a receiver. If he continues to develop physically and fundamentally, he could be a very good player in the Maize and Blue at either wide receiver or safety. Add his efforts on the recruiting trail and you can see why he’s such a big part of this class.

5. WR/ATH: Brad Hawkins, 6’2” 205lbs. Camden, NJ (Camden)

Hawkins is a big, fast, physical wide receiver that can make the tough catches that should make him a go-to possession receiver in the future. He reminds me a little bit of former Wolverine WR Marquise Walker because of his mix of size and big play ability, both of which are badly needed in UM’s offense. But like Mitchell, he could alos see time as a defensive back during his college career.

6. WR: Nate Johnson, 6’0” 180lbs. Thompson’s Station, TN (Independence) 

Johnson is the exact type of receiver that the staff was looking to add along side big, physical receivers Ahmir Mitchell and Brad Hawkins. He is a smaller, quick, home run threat that can play on the outside and in the slot, which is huge since the slot depth is lacking that dynamic playmaker at the moment.

He’s also a name to watch up until NSD. He’s taking a couple official visits and it looks like Michigan will have to fight to keep him on board.

7. WR: Dylan Crawford, 6’1” 175lbs. Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (SMC) 

Crawford’s recruitment was a bit of a roller coaster. Early in the process, he visited Ann Arbor with friend and teammate QB KJ Costello, and both were said to love everything they saw. However, the coaching staff change looked to put UM on the back burner until Harbaugh and company came calling again. Thanks to his long time love for UM, his official visit for the MSU game as well as the educational and football opportunities in Ann Arbor, he decided to don the Maize and Blue hat at the Army All-American Game.

Though Michigan will have to fight to hold onto him. While I fully believe he signs with UM, Oregon and other schools will likely take full runs at him over the next two weeks.

8. WR: Eddie McDoom, 6’0” 175lbs. Winter Garden, FL (West Orange)

In a crazy turn of events, according to 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow, McDoom parted ways with Oregon after the staff pulled his offer when he told them his plans to visit Michigan on January 22nd ($). Now with his UM visit set up for this upcoming weekend, the former Ducks commit has UM out front and things are looking very good for the Wolverines to add another receiver to their 2016 haul.

McKeon is an old school tight end that can make plays as both a pass catcher and run blocker. He has the size and skill that should fit perfectly in Harbaugh’s offense and remind a bit of former Stanford standout Colby Fleener coming out of high school.

10. TE: Chase Allen, 6’7” 225lbs. Nixa, MO (Nixa)

Allen’s recruitment picked up really quickly and looks like it could be over shortly. The high school basketball standout officially visited Michigan over the weekend and had a fantastic time. He didn’t commit while on campus but it looks like it’ll happen in the near future barring any drastic changes.

11. OT: Erik Swenson, 6’7” 295lbs. Downers Grove, IL (South)

The first commitment of the class is a life long Michigan fan and will have the chance to not only don the Maize and Blue, but become a star on the offensive line. Swenson has several of the same characteristics of the elite offensive tackles Michigan has produced over the last 20+ years.

There have been some rumors of him possibly leaving the class but I won’t believe that one until I see it.

12. OT: Devery Hamilton, 6’6” 290lbs. Baltimore, MD (Gilman)

Hamilton is a big time get for the staff. Though he’s a big raw (thanks to playing both defensive end and tackle in high school), he has that size and athleticism combo that gives him the look of a future standout. As for his exact position, he could play either end of the line but I like him at left tackle.

13. OG: Ben Bredeson, 6’5” 295lbs. Hartland, WI (Arrowhead)

Bredeson is a big, physical, versatile offensive lineman that has the chance to star at any position along the line at the next level. With Coach Drevno teaching him and Harbaugh’s pro-style, power offense, he has the chance to be a very, very good lineman for the Maize and Blue.

14. OG: Michael Onwenu, 6’3” 365lbs. Detroit, MI (Cass Tech)

Onwenu is a monster lineman that has the size and athleticism to be a dominant player on either side of the ball. However, Michigan looks to be targeting him at offensive guard though his senior tape does show big time potential as a nose tackle. Either way, the staff has one of the top lineman in the class to develop.

15. DT: Jordan Elliott, 6’4” 305lbs. Houston, TX (Westside) 

Elliott is one of the top defensive lineman in the country and was near the top of the staff’s board for months thanks to his versatility. He has the size to play the one technique and the athleticism to play the three technique, which should make him a player that can contribute early on in his career as long as he develops in the weight room.

16. DT: Michael Dwumfour, 6’2” 285lbs. Wayne, NJ (DePaul Catholic)

Dwumfour made his official visit to Michigan this past weekend and gave me glowing reviews. He mentioned how much he loved the educational help they offer and how great the Big House was to see in person. Add in him being best friends with RB Kareem Walker and top target DL Rashan Gary, and I believe he ends up flipping his commitment from the Nittany Lions to the Wolverines in the not-so-distant future.

The #1 recruit in the country remains on the list and will very likely remain here throughout. He has the longest relationship with Michigan, what looks to be the best relationships with both the coaches and the recruits and UM has the top degree out of his finalists. Add in his mom clearly being a fan of the University and the good possibility of his best friend, Michael Dwumfour, joining the class and I still believe he chooses the Wolverines on National Signing Day.

Weaver is a big, athletic end that has the size and ability to play either tight end or defensive end at the next level. However, he’ll very likely end up along the defensive line and could end up being a really nice fit. He has that length and frame to be a matchup nightmare after he puts in more time in the weight room.

Like some of the other commits from over the summer, he’s a name to watch up until NSD. He recently visited Temple and they look to be a real candidate to flip him.

19. DE: Connor Murphy, 6’7” 250lbs. Phoenix, AZ (Brophy Prep)

Murphy’s relationship with Harbaugh is well known and I believe could end up being the deciding factor in his recruitment. He will make his way to Michigan for the first time for his official visit on January 22nd and with the staff looking to add another defensive end in the class, I believe they’ll roll out the red carpet to land the younger brother of one of Harbaugh’s top defensive players at Stanford.

Johnson is a big, physical lineman that has the size and power to play the strong side or even on the inside during passing plays and the athleticism to play the weakside. That versatility was a question mark for awhile but it’s why he is a nice fit in Michigan’s defense as the staff can move him all over to create matchup problems.

21. DE/LB: Carlo Kemp, 6’4” 250lbs. Boulder, CO (Fairview) 

In UM’s defense, the BUCK linebacker position is known to be the most important. And that is where Kemp is projected to play. He has the size, athleticism and instincts that should fit that position perfectly. Whether he starts off there or starts at defensive end or another linebacker position, there’s a good chance he sees the field early on in his career.

22. LB: Jonathan Jones, 6’0” 225lbs. Orlando, FL (Oak Ridge)

Jones has a long list of finalists but it looks to be down to Michigan and Notre Dame for his commitment on National Signing Day. Though ND made a big time move during their official visit, Michigan has been the top candidate for most of the cycle and, with the early playing time available, I believe he pledges to the Wolverines on NSD.

Though some believe he’s undersized, Bush is a versatile linebacker that has the size, speed and tenacity to be a game changer at the next level. He has the athleticism to make plays all over the field and should fit in Michigan’s defense perfectly. And thanks to the future depth chart, he has a very good shot at playing early and often.

24. LB: Dytarious Johnson, 6’1” 220lbs. Prattville, AL (Prattville)

Johnson is a hard nosed inside linebacker that has the athleticism and speed to make plays from sideline to sideline. Along with LB commit Devin Bush Jr, Michigan has two stout inside backers that have a chance to be vey good in UM’s defense.

There are some questions out there about whether or not he’ll remain in this class so this will be a situation to monitor up until NSD.

Gil is physical, athletic hybrid safety that looks to be a great fit in UM’s defense. He has the size and range to be a difference maker early on in his career in Brown’s blitz heavy defense, especially with the depth chart starting to open up with the graduations of multiple safeties and linebackers in the next two years.

26. CB: Antwaine Richardson, 6’0” 165lbs. Delray Beach, FL (Atlantic)  

Richardson is a long, athletic, play making corner that has the ability to match up with top receivers on opposing teams and win the jump ball. That is a big reason why the staff felt like he was needed in this class. The cornerback depth chart will be in shambles after 2016 thanks to multiple starters graduating which will give Richardson the chance to see the field early.

27. CB: David Long, 6’0” 185lbs. Los Angeles, CA (Loyola) 

Long has long been a priority recruit for the staff and it looks like they will end up getting their guy later this week. The Loyola star recently visited his other top candidate Washington but it doesn’t look like it was enough to take over Michigan’s lead in his recruitment. He’ll be making his decision on Thursday, the 21st, and unless UW made much more of an impact that anyone knew, he should be picking the Wolverines.

Fuller is the biggest reach in this class prediction for multiple reasons. Not only has he yet to visit Michigan but he’s also said to be favoring Ohio State. Oh and the fact that I have him replacing longtime BGRC member CB Lavert Hill. But thanks to Fuller saying to be big on academics and UM having a ridiculous amount of New Jersey flavor already in this class, I think they can sway him from the Buckeyes and Fighting Irish before NSD.

29. S: Josh Metellus, 6’0” 195lbs. Hollywood, FL (Flanagan)

Metellus is a hard hitting, physical safety that reminds me a bit of Detroit Lions strong safety James Ihedigbo thanks to his ability to make plays in the box as well as in coverage. Something that Michigan has been missing for years until Jabrill Peppers came along. Both should be really nice fits in Brown’s defense.

30. ATH: Kiante Enis, 6’1” 200lbs. Winchester, IN (Winchester)

Enis is one of the more athletic and versatile players in the country and it’s exactly what the Michigan coaching staff is looking to add to the fold. He has the size, length and athleticism to be an impact player at multiple positions at the next level.

This is another current commit to watch closely as there have been questions about if he’ll remain in the class after officially visiting Indiana. 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong also recently put in a CB to the Hoosiers.

Evans is that home run hitting threat that the offense and special teams has been missing. At this point, it remains to be seen where exactly the staff sees his future but I imagine him seeing time in all three facets of the game while in the Maize and Blue, including RB, WR, KR/PR and possibly at CB.

32. ATH: Khaleke Hudson, 6’0” 205lbs. McKeesport, PA (McKeesport)

Hudson makes a return to the list and it looks like I made the right prediction in December. He made his way to Ann Arbor for his official visit this past weekend and it looked like it blew him away. 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong put in a CB for him to Michigan and said “At this point, I can’t see Hudson land anywhere but Michigan” ($). It’s not known if he’ll make another OV before making a decision but it looks like it’ll take a change of heart for UM to miss out on his signature.

33. K/P: Quinn Nordin, 6’1” 200lbs. Rockford, MI (Rockford)

Nordin is now famously known as the recruit who committed to Penn State with a private jet video and had a sleepover with Jim Harbaugh. Well, he also happens to be the top kicker in the class and clearly a priority for the Michigan staff. And all points show to him flipping from PSU to UM but the question remains, will he be a full scholarship commit or take a grayshirt? It’s not known for sure at this point but, for numbers sake, i’ll keep him in the grayshirt category.

• If Michigan ends the class in this way, they’ll have a real shot at the #1 class overall though they’ll need LSU, Ohio State and others to not have an extremely strong finish. This score would have landed UM the #3 class in 2015, the #4 class in 2014 and the #5 class in 2013.

Just Missed:

• CB Lavert Hill
  • Michigan looked like a lock after decommitting from Penn State but MSU is making a big push thanks to his connections to the roster and current recruiting class. I still think UM can end up landing him but it’s too close of a call at this point.
• WR Donald Stewart
  • He will officially visit Michigan this upcoming weekend but with Stanford fighting hard for his pledge and UM’s receiver class/board stock full of options, I was unable to fit him in the class at this time.
• WR Keyshawn Young
  • Like Stewart, I think Young is a part of this class as long as a spot is available. However, I just don’t see that spot being available when he decides on NSD.
• DE Josh Uche
  • Don Brown’s top target will also officially visit this upcoming weekend but there’s just not enough there to add him to the class at this point.
• TE Devin Asiasi
  • Chase Allen should have landed the 2nd tight end spot in the class before Asiasi officially visits this upcoming weekend but I don’t think the staff will slow down their recruitment either way. If they can land a talent like this, they’ll fit him into the class one way or another.
• LB Elysee Mbem-Bosse
  • There hasn’t been much about Mbem-Bosse and Michigan so far but I believe he’s a bigger target than most believe. He officially visits this upcoming weekend and if things go well, UM could be in great shape to land him right before NSD.
• DE Levi Onwuzurike
  • Another top target that Michigan is battling Washington for heading into his decision this week. I was close to putting him on this list before Wolverine247’s Steve Lorenz heard that UM was out ($). And even though he said that wasn’t true, I’ll keep him out of this class at this point.
