2016 Basketball Commits

1. C Jon Teske, 6’11” 210lbs. Medina, OH (Medina HS)

The big man dominates at the high school level thanks to being several inches taller than the rest of the competition. His height, length, shot blocking ability, and outside shooting should make him a great player in Beilein\’s system. However, he will have to add some muscle to his frame before being able to perform at his peak level at Michigan.

Highlights

2. C Austin Davis, 6’10” 250lbs. Onsted, MI (Onsted)

Davis is an old school, blue collar big man that has the size and length to be a good rebounder and paint presence at the next level. While he’s not the most explosive or dominant big man out there, he does the little stuff that wins games like getting boards on both ends of the court, finishing inside and playing solid defense. Look for him to re-classify to 2017 as he’s likely to take a prep year.

Highlights

3. SG Ibi Watson, 6’5” 180lbs. Pickerington, OH (Central)

The Pickerington Central star is another one of those underrated (possible) steals for Beilein and the Michigan staff as they had to back pedal after losing SG Tyus Battle to Syracuse. But if history has taught us anything, trust Beilein with three star guards out of Ohio (per MGoBlog’s Alex Cook). Or did you already forget about Trey Burke and Caris Levert?

Highlights

4. PG Xavier Simpson, 5’11” 170lbs. Lima, OH (Lima)

Simpson is a top 100 player and one of the top point guards in the Midwest. He has a similar playing style and size as former target Cassius Winston. Though he is not the most elite athlete on the floor, he has the size and skill set to be a very nice player in Beilein’s offense.
