Nationwide Camp? Michigan’s Plans for the Summer

To get Michigan back to the level everyone is accustomed to, Harbaugh needs to bring in elite level talent that fits his system and with their new plan, that will be much easier.

According to a source very close to the situation, Michigan will be “holding satellite camps” in Texas and Florida this June.

There were rumors circulating around the message boards that a California camp (similar to Penn State’s in Georgia) would be taking place this summer to help recruit one of top recruiting states in the country. While my source didn’t mention a Cali camp, they did say there would be two camps in Texas and one in Tampa (FL).

The source is very close to the staff and has a friend that will be putting on one of the camps:

“My buddy is actually hosting and setting up one of the camps in Texas”

Unlike Penn State’s camp in Georgia, Michigan will not be pairing up with a local small. According to my source, Michigan “refuses” to be paired up with another school:

“It will be an all Michigan camp”

They also touched on the NCAA rules and how those camps are run. Saying getting together with a smaller school is a facade and that it’s “private entities that host the camps”. However, it’ll likely be a “guest” appearance, instead of a camp hosted by the program.

They also included that Jim Harbaugh will be in attendance at the camps. So, this is a very big deal.

These camps will allow the coaching staff to build up relationships with out of state prospects that, for the most part, would not be able to visit Ann Arbor before an official visit. Showing the recruits, coaches and parents what the Michigan program will look like under the new staff should be a very big coup in the recruiting game moving forward.
