The Full Court Press is on at Running Back

After landing Ty Isaac, Michigan has changed it\’s mindset in regards to their 2015 running back recruitment. Thanks to a small number of available scholarships, the staff is looking to only take one back in the class. This has ramped up the recruitment level to \”Full Court Press\” mode for two of their top targets, Mike Weber and Jacques Patrick.

Right after the Isaac commitment, Weber (Detroit, MI/Cass Tech HS) was on campus two times in four days which included spending plenty of time with his old high school teammates from Cass Tech that are now Wolverines in David Dawson and Royce Jenkins-Stone. This gave him the chance to see the program from players point of view, instead of being ushered around by the coaches.

After being left out of Weber\’s top three (O$U, MSU & Wisconsin), the Wolverines have some ground to make up. But these latest visits and his familiarity with the program, players and coaches,  it looks like Michigan is definitely in the thick of things.

In a bit of a shocker, the other top running back target that the staff has started to recruit the hardest is Jacques Patrick (Orlando, FL/Timber Creek). The five star talent spent two days in Ann Arbor, seeing everything the program and coaches have to offer. That included a tour of the stadium in which Patrick tweeted a photo of himself rocking the Desmond Howard Heisman pose while donning the Maize and Blue #21.

This visit, as well as his attendance and chance to be coached by the Wolverine staff at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp in Detroit this weekend, and the fact that he has friends and family members in the area (brother plays at Western Michigan) has helped Michigan make up a ton of ground on the rumored favorites, Florida State. He told Scout\’s Sam Webb ($) that he will be visiting two more times this fall, including the Penn State game.

Had A Good time at Michigan ! #GoBlue

If the coaches sold him on themselves, the program, the University, and the chance to be the only back in the class (FSU and his other top schools are all taking multiple RBs in 2015), I think the Wolverines will be in this thing to the finish and could possibly be #2 on his list right now.

With the staff pressing hard to land Weber or Patrick, expect the same to happen when Damien Harris hits campus this summer.
