TJ (as he is called) is a towering athlete that has the ability to play and star at several different positions in college. However, looking a the class, it looks like he will be the lone tight end commitment in the class but could see time elsewhere depending on his development. Wherever he ends up, he will be a very good player for the Maize and Blue.

His recruitment seemed to have the final destination written on the wall from the start, but that doesn\’t mean it was easy getting there. He was always high on Michigan but after several visits to other top options (UCLA, Alabama and USC) and the coaching change, TJ looked very likely to end up elsewhere. However, the hiring of his father as the running back coach and his relationship with new tight ends coach Jay Harbaugh pushed the Wolverines out front for good.

Height: 6\’6\’\’

Notable Offers: Alabama, USC, Oregon, Florida State, UCLA, Wisconsin, Nebraska

Rankings: Scout (4* #25 DE) – Rivals (4* #13 TE) – 247Sports (4* #12 SDE) – ESPN (3*, #12 TE)

As for the Rest of the Class: Wheatley is the 14th commitment in the class and the first tight end, but may not be the last offensive weapon. WR Van Jefferson is deciding later and high on Michigan, as is CB Iman Marshall.
