New Michigan Man: QB/ATH Victor Viramontes

A lot of big commitments have dropped for Michigan since the start of June but the latest one will likely get the most buzz as Harbaugh has added his 2nd quarterback commitment for 2016, Norco (CA) QB/ATH Victor Viramontes.

Viramontes is a tough, duel-threat quarterback that has the “it” factor you look for in recruits, especially under Harbaugh. However, while he is being recruited as a QB, if he wants to see the field faster, I believe it could be at halfback or switching to defense (LB/S) thanks to the depth chart. Either way, he is the type of player that will quickly become an impactful player for the Wolverines.

As for his recruitment, he is the 6th commitment out of the Summer Swarm satellite camp tour. He was quickly offered by the staff after his showing at the Fresno camp, and was looked at as a possible quick commitment. And that was true as he pulled the trigger and joined Michigan’s 2016 recruiting class just four days after getting his offer.

  • Height: 6’2”
  • Weight: 220lbs.
  • Notable Offers: Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Nebraska
  • Rankings: Scout (3*, #31 ATH) – Rivals (3*, #19 QB) – 247 (3*, #48 ATH) – ESPN (NR)

As for the Rest of the Class: Viramontes is the 14th commitment in the class and the 2nd quarterback. So, this all but wraps up QB recruiting for this cycle but this should not be the last commitment for June. There are at least 6-10 legit options to pull the trigger before July, including Jonathan Jones, Khalid Kareem, Terrell Lucas, Ben Bredeson, Josh Metellus, Devin Gil and Devin Bush Jr.
