In a shocking, unexpected move, Michigan landed it’s 4th 3rd commitment for the 2016 basketball recruiting class as Pickerington (OH) G Ibi Watson has decided to become a Wolverine just days after landing an offer.
Watson is a versatile guard that has the ability to play the point and the two in Michigan’s system but with the staff going hard at PG Cassius Winston, shooting guard looks like the likely landing spot. Either way, the Wolverines have themselves another playmaker in the back court that has the skills to be a very good college player.
The Pickerington Central starĀ is another one of those underrated (possible) steals for Beilein and the Michigan staff as they had to back pedal after losing SG Tyus Battle to Syracuse. But if history has taught us anything, trust Beilein with three star guards out of Ohio (per MGoBlog’s Alex Cook). Or did you already forget about Trey Burke and Caris Levert?
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 180lbs
Notable Offers: Indiana
Rankings: Scout (3*) – Rivals (NR) – 247Sports (3*, #29 SG) – ESPN (3*, #41 SG)
As for the Rest of the Class: There is only one main target left in the 2016 class and it’s right down the street at University of Detroit Jesuit in PG Cassius Winston. He’ll be officially visiting September 19th and if he ends up in the class, Beilein and company will be ecstatic. If not, look out for TeJon Lucas or Bruce Brown.
