Michigan Offers 2016 OT Tommy Kraemer

Michigan has finally pulled the trigger and offered one of the highest rated prospects in 2016 who just so happens to have grown up a fan of the Wolverines. That player is five star offensive tackle Tommy Kraemer.

Kraemer is ranked as the 18th overall prospect in the 2016 class (according to 247Sports) and the #1 overall player in Ohio. Add in the staff\’s need for tackles and the fact that he grew up loving Michigan thanks to his father coaching a former Wolverine, and you\’d think the staff would have offered him much earlier.

So, why did it take so long? In an interview with Scout\’s Dave Berk ($), he told him that Hoke told him he wanted to do some more background on him to make sure he was a good kid. He also told Berk that the staff is hoping to get him on campus for the Penn State game.

Several OSU and Notre Dame analysts have been hinting at an early decision from the talented tackle but he nixed that in the interview with Berk:

“I talked with my parents about it and I have no plans to make a commitment anytime soon,” he said. “I would like to take a few overnight visits and ask more questions of some of the coaches.”

Another positive for Michigan is that Kraemer\’s top five currently consists of mostly top academic schools (OSU, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Northwestern and Boston College). With a great visit to Ann Arbor, Michigan should definitely have a chance here.
