Look Who’s Visiting Now: September 12th vs Oregon State

The 2015 Michigan football team aka Team 136 will make their first appearance at the Big House this season and they’re not going to be alone. Along with the 107,000+, the Wolverines will be hosting several recruiting visitors, including three official visitors and several top junior targets.

Official Visitors

QB/ATH Victor Viramontes

The all around athlete committed to Michigan just days after receiving his offer from the staff. And from the look of his highlight tapes, they may have found themselves one of the steals of the class. This trip to Ann Arbor will be his first ever and should only solidify his commitment even more than before, which was about as solid as other commit’s pledge.

OL Landon Dickerson (per Wolverine247’s Steve Lorenz)

CB Jared Mayden

This one has been reported on for awhile now but was solidified from Scout’s Greg Powers ($). Mayden is committed to Oregon at the moment and though every other staff he’s officially visiting is hoping to flip him, all signs point to him sticking with the Ducks. Either way, you never know what can happen once a recruit make it to campus for the first time.

Unofficial Visitors

2016 WR Simeon Smith

Smith is a 6’6” receiver that holds several D2 offers and though he doesn’t have D1 offer just yet, he is a name to watch. He let me know that the staff invited him to the game and that he is planning on going. Though an offer doesn’t look likely to happen right now, that size and pass catching ability makes him a possible dark horse candidate to be a part of the class.

2017 RB Kurt Taylor

If you’re looking for a possible commitment candidate, Taylor is the name to watch closest. He’s continued to rave about Michigan every time I speak with him and with Georgia still not showing a ton of love, it’s not completely out of the question that he pulls the trigger on his trip. Either way, I think Michigan is/stays his leader when he leaves Ann Arbor.

2017 WR KJ Hamler

Earlier in August, Hamler let Rivals’ Josh Helmholdt know about his plans to visit both Michigan and Michigan State on Saturday ($) for their match ups with the Oregon schools, and that still looks to be the plan. This recruitment is far from over but it’s always nice to get a top junior target on campus early on.

2017 LB Josh Ross

The younger brother of senior linebacker James Ross has looked like a Michigan lean since his recruitment started and, per The Wolverine’s Tim Sullivan, he’s expected to make another visit to Ann Arbor this Saturday. Ive heard great things from a source close to the situation that things are looking very good on this front and things could happen “soon”.

2017 QB Davis Mills

First reported by Wolverine247’s Steve Lorenz, Mills is planning on being on campus and at the game for the home opener. And he’s a name to watch. Michigan looks to be heavily targeting Mills and Valor (CO) QB Dylan McCaffrey to be their top signal caller in the 2017 class and this visit, along with his offer in August, are a step in the right direction.

2017 TE/DE Nate Umlor

According to Scout’s Allen Trieu, the little known athlete out of Allendale (MI) is a name to possibly watch moving forward. At 6’6” 245lbs, he has a similar build to current tight end commit Carter Dunaway and can play either tight end or defensive end. While I don’t expect an offer to go out just yet, he’s definitely a name to remember moving forward.

2017 RB Malik Davis

Davis is another somewhat unknown recruit in the junior class that is being targeted by the coaching staff. He let me know he was invited to the game this weekend but did not get back to me to let me know if he would be making it to campus or not. If/when I get the confirmation, I’ll be sure to update everyone.
