Crystal Ballin: Solomon Back to Michigan

After 2017 Lees County (GA) DT Aubrey Solomon decommitted from Michigan back in August, I would have bet almost anything that he would end up signing elsewhere. Most likely with Alabama or Georgia. But the unthinkable looks like it’s going to happen thanks to a fantastic recruiting job by the Michigan coaching staff. So, I’m putting in my 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction for Solomon to recommit to Michigan.

Positive vibes have been coming from the Solomon camp towards Michigan since Aubrey’s official visit to Ann Arbor for the the Maryland game in early November. But that looked to have changed during the Army All-American game when he named Alabama his leader and was the star of a now well known Periscope video.

As I included in the latest ITFB, that video looked to be far from the truth as both TMI’s Sam Webb and 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow were hearing very positive things about where Michigan stood with Solomon.

However, it wasn’t enough for me to throw in a Crystal Ball prediction. But that changed on Monday night after Michigan’s first in-home visit and what Solomon’s mother told Sam Webb about the “best visit ever” ($).

Webb was able to get photos of the trip, which included the staff driving go-karts and Harbaugh’s latest genius visit move of bringing his daughter with him on the trip to hangout with Solomon’s sister. I highly recommend checking out the photos.

Add in Solomon’s mother telling 247Sports’ Kipp Adams that they’re done taking visits after the USC trip ($), which Adams followed up with a CB for Solomon to Michigan, and it was more than enough for me to think Jim Harbaugh and the staff will pull off the unthinkable and reel back in the five star tackle.

This recruitment has obviously been pretty wacky and I doubt the roller coaster is over just yet. Look for Alabama to make a strong push up until he signs his LOI on National Signing Day which will draw up some fresh rumors. However, I believe Michigan sold Aubrey over the summer and now looks to have cleared its only hurdle as mom look to fully be on board with her son signing with the Wolverines. We’ll see if that’s enough for Michigan to sign Solomon.
