5 New (and Old) Targets on the Recruiting Board

The Michigan coaching staff is looking to add more athleticism to the roster as soon as possible which means a bit of a change in their recruiting targets. There now looks to be five new names on the board including two former targets committed elsewhere. And both are electric athletes with home run hitting ability:

2016 ATH Demetric Felton

  • Felton was offered by Michigan way back in February and looked to be one of the top athlete targets on their board before he committed to UCLA in March. But with the need for athletes on the roster, he looks to be back on the board.

2016 ATH Korey Banks

  • Like Felton, Banks was another athlete target that the staff offered back in March and looked to be the favorites for for quite some time. However, they looked to have cooled on him a bit and he ended up committing to North Carolina in July. But that has changed as he let me know that Coach Harbaugh and Fisch are recruiting him “hard” and want him on the offensive side of the ball. Things look like they could get very interesting here with the staff in need of offensive weapons and Banks becoming a top target.

2016 LB Keion Joyner

  • Joyner is the only senior target that has yet to earn an offer from Michigan but could be close to landing one as he was recently followed on Twitter by recruiting coordinator Chris Partridge. It’s pretty late in his recruitment to jump in and make a real impact, especially for a player ranked as high as Joyner (#51 overall by 247Sports) but if they do offer and can land an official visit, who knows? It doesn’t hurt.

2017 OLB Chase Young

  • Young is a new name to the junior board but one to keep an eye on. He looks to be a really nice fit at the BUCK linebacker for Durkin and is one of the highest ranked defensive ends in the class. I wouldn’t be shocked to see an offer go out in the near future to the high school teammate of 2016 OG Terrance Davis.

2017 ATH Bo Melton

  • Unlike the other names on the list, Melton is little known. He is Rutgers legacy the teammate of wide receiver commit Ahmir Mitchell and holds only one offer from Old Dominion. It may not be right at this moment but keep an eye on him moving forward. He has that speed that is needed and could be a player that blows up during his junior season.

Things are getting very interesting on the recruiting trail now that the season has started. Make sure you don’t miss a thing by subscribing to the MGoFish newsletter at the top right of the page (under the logo….a little further down……there it is).
