With a fully revamped defensive coaching staff, it was likely that some current players and commitments may not stay on board. The first name off the list is from the upcoming 2022 class as Buckingham Browne & Nichols School (MA) LB Tyler Martin has decommitted from Michigan.
Martin was a longtime recruit for former defensive coordinator Don Brown so when that move was made, this was a name to watch. He committed to Michigan on September 11th, 2020, at the time becoming the 2nd member of the class.
His decommitment drops Michigan’s 2022 class down to four members as the new staff looks to boost it up after wrapping up the 2021 class on National Signing Day on February 3rd.
