New Michigan Man: 2017 RB Kurt Taylor

After quite some time, Michigan has itself another 2017 addition, as Newton (GA) RB Kurt Taylor has committed to Jim Harbaugh and Wolverines during his third unofficial visit to Ann Arbor in 3 months.

Taylor is a tough, stout, quicker than fast running back that loves contact. When you look at how built he is for a high school student (or anyone for that matter), you can see why he has no problem looking for defenders. Though he can also beat the defense with a quick first step, he has similar running style to former Wolverine, Mike Hart. His size actually helps him as he can get lost behind lineman and has a low center of gravity, which makes him very tough to bring down.

As for his recruitment, Taylor jumped on the scene for Michigan over the summer. He made his way up to Ann Arbor for the BBQ at the Big House, landed himself an offer and then quickly became the favorite in the 2017 class to be the next to commit to UM. Well, after the fast start from the Wolverines and great unofficial visits, Taylor decided to pledge to Coach Harbaugh in person on the eve of the Michigan-Michigan State game.

  • Height: 5’9”
  • Weight: 200lbs
  • Notable Offers: Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky
  • Rankings: Scout (3*) – Rivals (3*, #19 RB) – 247Sports (3*, #35 RB) – ESPN (NR)

As for the Rest of the Class: Taylor is the 3rd commitment of the class and the 2nd offensive commit. But with Michigan having as much momentum on the recruiting trail as just about anyone, there’s a good chance more jump on board before the end of the season. Players like Jaylen Kelly-Powell, JaRaymond Hall, Dylan McCaffrey and Corey Malone-Hatcher look like they could end up pulling the trigger at any moment.
