Crystal Ballin: Herbert to Michigan

The Michigan football staff has priority recruits in every class. In 2017, there are plenty of names out there that the staff is taking their biggest and best runs at with the most popular name of late being American Heritage (FL) OL Kai-Leon Herbert.

Most recruiting analysts and reporters, including myself, believed he was destined for Florida for the majority of the cycle. But with the heavy pursuit from the staff, he visited Ann Arbor alongside his teammate and good friend 2017 OL Tedarrell Slaton for the on-campus Big Man camp in mid-June. And from all reports, the visit couldn’t have gone any better.

Good enough for me to put a Crystal Ball prediction in for the Maize and Blue? No. I needed a little more information before I made the move. The main thing I was looking for was when he was planning on making his decision and whether or not a return visit to Gainesville would happen beforehand.

Well, Herbert tweeted out his plans on Friday to announce his commitment on July 6th. He also confirmed with me that he will not be making any other visits prior to that decision date. Add in some other tea leaves and I’ve decided to lock in my prediction for the Sunshine State star to make a shocking decision to most and choose the Wolverines on Wednesday.

Am I 100% positive? No, this is college football recruiting. But, at this point, all signs are pointing towards Michigan so I’ve decided to join in on the recent run of predictions with a ball of my own.
