Smith to Visit Michigan for the Spring Game

After receiving his offer from Michigan in late September, Ligonier (PA) S Collin Smith was a name to watch for Wolverines fans. He is a guy that looks to fit everything Harbaugh is hoping to bring to the program. Versatile, tough, hardworking, team first player that is willing to do what it takes to succeed. Because of his traits and the staff’s need to continue to add more players to the roster that fit their style, UM continues to be in great shape here.

Smith’s first visit to Ann Arbor didn’t go as well as possible thanks to the outcome of the Ohio State game but that shouldn’t be an issue on his next trip. On top of making several other visits this spring, the talented Keystone State star will be visiting Michigan for the 2016 spring game on April 1st.

There have been some questions since his offer on which position the staff is targeting him at. According to Smith, he’s mainly being targeted at as a safety though other schools see him a safety/linebacker hybrid. As for which position he prefers, “No preference, I’m just willing to play anywhere the school needs me to play!”.

Though he doesn’t have a top list just yet, he let me know that Michigan is standing out a bit along with others thanks to their following and fan base.

It’s still early and he’ll be making spring visits to West Virginia, Pitt, Louisville and UConn but I believe Michigan is the school to watch closest here. I’ll have more on him in my next Inside the Fish Bowl post.
