2016 Freshmen Scouting Report: Sean McKeon

To kick off the official start to the 2016 Michigan football fall camp, we’ve broken down each incoming freshmen football signee. That includes their scouting report, 2016 season prediction as well as a quote from one of their positional coaches.

Sean McKeon, Dudley (MA) Shepherd Hill

  • Position: Tight End
  • Height/Weight: 6’5” 240lbs
  • Commitment Date: June 15th, 2015

Scouting Report: McKeon may have been one of the lowest rated recruits for Michigan in the 2016 class but he may be the biggest dark horse for success at the collegiate level. He has the elite size that any coach is looking for out of a tight end. On top of the natural size and raw athleticism, he has the football IQ and hands to be a contributor throughout his career.

True Freshmen Projection: Though Michigan is stacked at the tight end position, according to all reports, McKeon’s early enrollment has helped put him right in the thick of things to see the field this season. However, it will likely take a standout camp performance or injuries for him to do that. I would put it at a 50/50 shot on him being redshirted this fall.

Jay Harbaugh Quote: “Sean is a very intelligent, hard-working guy who is nowhere near reaching his potential as a football player and he is willing to work hard to develop into a complete player. Sean has above average explosiveness and is an outstanding bender for his size. He has the unique athletic ability to be able to do a lot of different things in our offense. What he has done in the classroom in high school proves that Sean is willing to study and be a complete football player and student. That means a lot at our position because we demand a lot from our tight ends.”
