To kick off the official start to the 2016 Michigan football fall camp, we’ve broken down each incoming freshmen football signee. That includes their highlights, scouting report and our 2016 season prediction.

Kekoa Crawford, Rancho Santa Margarita (CA) Santa Margarita Catholic

  • Position: Wide Receiver
  • Height/Weight: 6’2” 195lbs
  • Commitment Date: January 9th, 2016

Scouting Report: Formally known as Dylan, Kekoa Crawford is a well-rounded receiver that has the ability to do a little bit of everything. He is a precise route runner that has the speed and quickness to cut on a dime and excel past defenders. But that’s not what makes him a top college prospect. It’s his toughness after the catch and willingness to block that reminds has me putting him in the receiver mold of Hines Ward, Steve Smith and Golden Tate. However, Crawford has more size than those players.

True Freshmen Projection: Though Michigan returns their top five receivers and he’s coming in with several other wide receivers, Crawford has the chance to make a very quick impact. He has the size going into camp and the talent level that should push him up the depth chart. With a good camp, he should be a top 6 receiver heading into the Hawaii game.

Rivals Scouting Report: Strong route runner where he cuts extraordinarily well and he does a great job setting up cornerbacks. The four-star is also exceptional at catching low passes by getting his hands under the ball and scooping it. Sometimes, he lets the ball get into his body, but most of the time Crawford rips it out of the air.
