The 2016 Michigan basketball class started off pretty slow but ended up taking off and all of a sudden looking like one of the best in the Beilein era after the surprise commitment of elite shooting guard Tyus Battle. And even though the scholarships are all taken up (another will open up with the reclassification of Austin Davis), the staff is in need of a point guard, and there is a local star they have in their crosshairs.
Check out how I believe the 2016 Michigan basketball recruiting class will finish up:
1. C Jon Teske, 6’11” 210lbs. Medina, OH (Medina HS)
The big man dominates at the high school level thanks to being several inches taller than the rest of the competition. His height, length, shot blocking ability, and outside shooting should make him a great player in Beilein\’s system. However, he will have to add some muscle to his frame before being able to perform at his peak level at Michigan.

2. C Austin Davis, 6’10” 250lbs. Onsted, MI (Onsted)
Davis is an old school, blue collar big man that has the size and length to be a good rebounder and paint presence at the next level. While he’s not the most explosive or dominant big man out there, he does the little stuff that wins games like getting boards on both ends of the court, finishing inside and playing solid defense. Look for him to re-classify to 2017 as he’s likely to take a prep year.

3. SG Tyus Battle, 6’6” 205lbs. Gladstone, NJ (Gill St Bernard)
Battle is one of the smoothest, pure scorers in the class is a perfect fit for Beilein’s offense. He has the length, size and skill to hit shots from behind the paint and finish at the rim that should be highlighted in the Wolverine offense. If he continues to grow as a player, Michigan fans should expect very big things.

4. PG Cassius Winston, 6’0” 165lbs. Detroit, MI (Jesuit)
Winston is the top player in the state and a perfect fit for Michigan. However, it’s not a slam dunk by any means as he seems to have a different favorite, between the in-state powers, just about every day. But Michigan may have the upper hand now (and possibly for the rest of his recruitment) thanks to the commitment of five star shooting guard Tyus Battle. Keep an eye on his recruitment as Michigan is looking to end the class with an elite point guard, and he is their top choice.
