Add yet another four-star linebacker to the recent haul for the Wolverines as Brian Jean-Mary and Don Brown have gone into the Sunshine State and pulled out a stud as 2021 St. Thomas Aquinas LB Jaydon Hood has committed to Michigan.
Commitment
Scouting Report
Fast, physical, downhill linebacker that craves contact and arrives with a bang. Can man the MIKE position and cover sideline to sideline while remaining a stout in the run game and dangerous as a blitzer. Really smart on and off the field.
Comes from strong football bloodlines as he has multiple family members that have played D1 football including his grandfather, EJ Junior, who was All-American at Alabama, the 5th overall pick in the 1981 draft, and 13 year NFL veteran.
Hood has the mentality, game and look of a future captain and leader of the defense.
Recruitment
Hood received his offer from the staff back in January just a week after Michigan finalized the hiring of LB coach Brian Jean-Mary, who quickly targeted the Sunshine State.
Not early on seen as a legit land, the staff put in work with BJM and Don Brown leading the way. It wasn’t until the late spring when the staff was able to separate themselves from the likes of Miami, Minnesota and Kentuck thanks to the commitment of teammate Ja’Den McBurrows and their virtual efforts during the Coronavirus pandemic. TMI’s Sam Webb put in his Crystal Ball for the Wolverines in early May ($) as Michigan looked to solidify themselves atop the list his list even prior to visiting campus.
Though the visit looked to be the hangup, Hood decided he knew where he wanted to go and decided to lock up his spot in the class by announcing his commitment to the Wolverines on Memorial Day.

As for the Rest of the Class
Hood is the 15th overall commitment, the 4th linebacker commit, the 2nd commit from Florida but the 4th commit that plays in the state. With his addition, the linebacker haul should just about be done. DE/SLB Kechaun Bennett is a name to continue to monitor.
As for names to watch as next possible commits, OG Drew Kendall and WR Cristian Dixon continue to trend towards the Wolverines.
