It looks like the commitment frenzy may be on as Farmington (MI) star and Louisville linebacker commit, David Reese has flipped his commitment to Michigan during his spring game visit.
Reese is a physical, aggressive, hard nosed player that will actually be moving to the offensive side of the ball for good in Ann Arbor. According to Wolverine247’s Steve Lorenz, he is being recruited as a full back ($) and I believe it’s a good fit. He has the skills to play linebacker at the next level but his best long term spot just may be as a lead blocker and ball carrier.
As for his recruitment, it’s been a bit of a roller coaster. He started landing several MAC offers early on but ended up receiving multiple Power 5 conference offers. However, after an early March visit to Louisville, he decided to join his good friend and teammate, Dez Fitzpatrick, and commit to the Cardinals. But just 20 days later, Michigan extended an offer and it changed everything. After thinking it over, he couldn’t pass up the opportunity and decided to decommit from Louisville and join Harbaugh’s 2016 class.
- Height: 6’1”
- Weight: 235lbs
- Notable Offers: Louisville, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Western Michigan
- Rankings: Scout (3*, #12 MLB) – Rivals (3*, #17 ILB) – 247Sports (3*, #18 ILB) – ESPN (3*)
As for the Rest of the Class: Reese is the 2nd commit of the spring game weekend, 4th commitment in the 2016 class and 1st fullback commitment. So, the class has a lot of room left (trying to get to 25). With his addition, he is very good friends with most of the top in-state guys, like Dez Fitzpatrick, Khalid Kareem, Donnie Corley and Matt Falcon. Stay tuned, this weekend could get wild.
