While most Michigan recruiting fans are ecstatic over the addition of Brandon Peters to the 2016 class, the player most are the most excited to see in the winged helmet is quarterback/athlete Victor Viramontes thanks to his ability to be an impact player at multiple positions on the field.
Well, in 2017, Harbaugh and the coaching staff are looking to bring in a very similar duo at quarterback as they’ve heavily targeted Valor (CO) QB Dylan McCaffrey to play the Peters role and have now offered Ligonier (PA) QB/ATH Collin Smith to fill the Viramontes role.

Like Viramontes, Smith is a big, physical athlete that plays any position on the field to help his team win. Something Harbaugh and the staff clearly want in their players. Though the big difference between the two is that Smith looks much more destined to end up on the defensive side of the ball, as a ball hawking, big hitting safety/linebacker while Viramontes will start at quarterback and see where things go from there.
Though it’s early, Michigan looks to be sitting pretty with Smith as Coach Harbaugh looks to be recruiting him personally.
