Michigan was having a great day after Caris LeVert made it official that he would be returning for his senior season, and it looks like their day, and season, may have got a lot better.
Per ESPN’s Paul Biancardi, the #1 overall player in the country, Jaylen Brown, is favoring two teams with his decision looming:
“Sources close to his family told me, it could be Cal or it could be Michigan for his final destination.”
Now, most took this as Michigan and Cal being his final two schools. However, according to GoBlueWolverine’s Sam Webb (who has consistently said Michigan was in Brown’s top two), those are his “top” two, not the final two ($).
If it’s true and it’s between the Michigan and Cal, you have to like the Wolverines’ chances here. Not only is the program and current team in much better shape, they also consistently develop NBA draft picks and Brown happens to have family in the state.
And if ends up choosing the Maize and Blue, Michigan quickly becomes the Big Ten preseason favorites, in my opinion. Brown is the #1 overall player in the country for a reason. He’d arguably be the most talented recruit in program history. So, make sure to stay tuned.
