Team 136 Best Guess Recruiting Class: May 29th

Take the good with the bad. That seems like the best way to go at the 2015 Michigan recruiting class. After fantastic early success, Team 136 lost their top two commits in George Campbell and Damien Harris. And then they caught fire by landing Alex Malzone and Darrin Kirkland, only to lose Shaun Crawford thanks to the visit policy. It has been a roller coaster to say the least.

Even with the big decommitments, it looks like this class is ready to take off. Now is the time to watch as the summer is where Michigan tends to clean up on the recruiting trail.

– The top quarterback in Michigan, Malzone is a talented signal caller with that winners mentality that every coach wants. He is a very talented player that has plenty of room to grow. He has a live arm and poise, and adds even more depth and talent to the QB room.

– One of the best players in Michigan and the Midwest, Weber is a powerful running back from Detroit\’s top high school program. He was very high on the Wolverines until they landed Harris and slowed down their pursuit. However, Coach Nuss has made Weber a priority again. It looks like they want two RBs in this class and it could be a race between Weber and Harris for the 2nd spot behind USC transfer Ty Isaac.

– A bit of a surprise at the end of the list, Cole is one of the best players in the country that has high interest in both Michigan schools. Michigan was only recruiting him as a wide receiver early in the process but with the loss of DB Shaun Crawford and the high possibility of Tate and/or Boykin they can recruit Cole as an athlete (either WR or S). That, along with Alex Malzone, should give the Wolverines an edge on the competition.

Tate has landed his \”dream offer\” and admitted the Wolverines are his new leader, and is looking to visit in the near future. He has the size, speed, and playmaking ability that every coach, especially Michigan\’s staff, is looking for in an outside receiver.

Especially after a visit to Ann Arbor. He loved his visit and how the Wolverines use and develop tight ends. That is why he has named Michigan his leader and is the odds on favorite to be the next commitment when he decides at The Opening in June.

-Son of former Michigan star running back, Tyrone Wheatley, TJ (as he is referred too) is one of the most physically gifted players in the 2015 class. He can dominate at both tight end and defensive end, and Michigan sees him playing either side of the ball. With his Dad in his ear, the Wolverines have a great chance no matter how many tight ends are already committed.

– After being offered by Michigan, Newsome has blown up in the recruiting world. Landing offers from most of the top programs in the country, including Alabama, LSU, Miami, and O$U. However, there is a good feeling that he is leaning heavily towards the Wolverines. With the staff desperately looking for another tackle, his big, physical, nasty style would fit in perfectly.

– One of the best players in the class, KLS is an explosive pass rusher that has admitted his admiration for the Maize and Blue. The coaches have been picking up their interest with him and have finally offered. He hasn\’t put out a top list but many believe Michigan is definitely in the top group, if not the favorite.

– Not a huge name on the recruiting radar, but he should be. Roseboro is a beast on the defensive line that can play inside and outside, which would fit in perfectly at Michigan. There wasn\’t much hype between him and the Wolverines until he spent 4 straight days in Ann Arbor recently. Knowing how well the coaches do on visits, I believe Michigan has made their move to, or near, the top of his list.

Thanks to his height and athleticism, he could play all three linebacker positions similar to Jake Ryan. As far as his recruitment goes, he is very good friends with Darrin Kirkland and was already very high on the Wolverines.

– One of my favorite players in this class, Masina has the size and athleticism that makes him a perfect fit as on outside rush linebacker in Mattison\’s defense, similar to how BYU used the Lions\’ 2nd round pick, Kyle Van Noy. He visited Ann Arbor last summer and loved it, naming them to his top list along with Utah and Wisconsin. When he visits again in the next couple months, hopefully for the Utah game, I think he will see which program is the better fit.

He was recently named DB MVP at the Rivals Challenge, which featured some of the top prospects in this and next years classes.
