While Michigan is in very good standing with several top running backs in the 2016 class, they have offered star Hawaiian RB Vavae Malepeai.
Malepeai is one the best running backs in the class, but because of his location, is not very well known. He has “legit 4.4 speed” according to Scout’s Doug Kimmel, who covers the Hawaii recruiting scene.
If he were to commit to the Wolverines, he would be the third player in team history from Hawaii and the first since 1985 in John Althouse (before that is was William Crockett in 1945), according to the Bentley Historical Library.
