In pretty surprising news, Michigan added its 10th commitment to the 2020 class as recently offered Lake Braddock (VA) TE Matthew Hibner committed to the Wolverines during his first visit to campus.
Commitment
Scouting Report
Hibner is a standout on and off the field, as well as on both sides of the ball for his high school team. Though he’s a playmaker as an outside linebacker, he’s a tight end prospect for Michigan. He’s raw and has some room to add onto his frame but has the physical tools and flashes the receiving and blocking skills to be a good player in the maize and blue.
Reminds me a bit of Sean McKeon on his junior tape. He won’t blow by someone with his quickness but once he gets going, he can beat linebackers deep. Otherwise, he uses his size, length, and hands to get open and make plays in the passing game.
Recruitment
This one was over quickly. Hibner just recently started really picking up Power Five offers over the last couple of months as his junior tape and 7v7 film has come out. But some P5 offers are different than others.
Hibner received his offer from the Michigan coaching staff at the end of May, quickly set up a visit to Michigan and made his way to Ann Arbor nine days later. And it didn’t take long for him to announce his commitment to the world.
He joins Nick Patterson as the tight end commitments in this class.
This was another Sherrone Moore production, who has become an ace recruiter for Michigan alongside Chris Partridge. He let his excitement about this one be known after it was announced.

Highlights
As for the Rest of the Class
Hibner is the 10th overall commitment, 2nd tight end commit, and the first commit out of Virginia. But his addition doesn’t mean the class is full at the position. TE Theo Johnson is not only a top tight end target but he looks to be one of the staff’s top overall targets. Plus we’ll see who all makes up the tight end haul in this class by the time Signing Day shows up.
As for potential candidates to be the next to drop, there’s a bunch of options. ATH Eamonn Dennis, VLB William Mohan, RB Blake Corum, and S Jordan Morant are all names to keep an eye on. This should be a good month for Michigan.
