New Michigan Man: 2020 RB Tim Baldwin Commits to Michigan

After hitting on two of the top running backs in the 2019 class, Jay Harbaugh and the Michigan coaching staff have kicked off its 2020 haul in a big way. Four-star 2020 Broad Run (VA) RB Tim Baldwin has committed to Michigan following his unofficial visit for the Penn State game.

Scouting Report

Baldwin is only in his junior season but flashes the plenty of signs of something special. With an upright running style, he shows good vision, runs tough and hard, has a great burst, and shows the ability to slash through the defense with ease. He flashes at both running back and linebacker at the high school level, but the higher ceiling looks to be on offense though Don Brown may have something to say about that.

Recruitment

While this commitment may have been a bit of a surprise, it has been in the making for a while now. Baldwin first visited Ann Arbor back in May and looked to come away extremely impressed with what Michigan had to offer. Though some other power Power Five programs were sniffing around, Michigan was his biggest and best offer on the board.

After making another trip to Michigan for the blowout win over Penn State (who Baldwin had visited multiple times without receiving an offer), the rising running back recruit saw everything he needed to see. He announced his commitment to the Wolverines on Twitter and became the sixth commitment of the class.

As for the Rest of the Class

Baldwin is the 6th overall commitment, the first running back commitment, and the first commitment out of Virginia for the 2020 class. This should be a class that is decently sized and there should be multiple running backs in it. Baldwin is the first but the staff is in great shape with Michael Drennen, Daniyel Ngata, Bijon Robinson, and Tirek Murphy. As for the next possible player to join the class, QB Harrison Bailey is a popular pick and one that looks to be set on deciding sooner rather than later.
