Looking to add more speed and depth to the wide receiver position, the staff didn’t need to go very far to find its latest addition to the class. After showing out at camp in front of the staff and earning both MVP honors and an offer, 2019 St. Edward (OH) WR Quintel Kent has committed to Michigan.

Scouting Report
Kent is a sure-handed possession receiver that has the speed to get over the top and make big plays. He’s a good route-runner on his tape and looks to be a good fit on the inside at slot receiver. From a physical standpoint, he’ll need some time to get ready to play top-flight college football but thanks to playing against some of the top talent at the high school level, he should be ready to compete. He doesn’t have star rating fans will like but this a player that the staff clearly likes a lot after showing out in front of them at camp.
Recruitment
This was another pretty quick recruitment for Michigan. Kent put on a show at the Michigan camp in mid-June, playing well enough to earn wide receiver MVP honors and landing himself an offer from the staff during his time on campus. As by far his biggest offer (only Power 5 offer), he quickly named the Wolverines his leader. But it wasn’t known if he was a take or not for the staff.
According to 247Sports’ Bill Greene, he was told to be patient by the staff as he wanted to commit “a few weeks ago” ($). But after his visit for the BBQ at the Big House, the staff clearly changed up their mindset and felt more than comfortable enough to accept his commitment as he announced his plans to join the 2019 Michigan recruiting class via Twitter. He becomes the 19th overall commitment for the class and the latest Michigan commit out of Ohio powerhouse, St. Edwards, the same school that produced former five-star OG Kyle Kalis.

Highlights
As for the Rest of the Class
Kent is the 19th overall commitment, the 2nd wide receiver commitment, and the 6th commit out of Ohio. And if the staff can close on some of its top remaining targets from now until NSD, he may not be the last receiver or Ohio commit. Michigan is firmly in the race for five-star WR Kyle Ford and Ohio’s #1 player DE Zach Harrison. Though UM is not the favorite for either, the Wolverines have a real chance to land either or both, especially with a big 2018 season.
The other names to watch at the wide receiver position are Cornelius Johnson and Wandale Robinson, though the addition of Kent may be a sign that one or both are leaning elsewhere at the moment.
As for the next potential addition to the class, five-star S Daxton Hill‘s decision may be coming soon and it looks to be down to Michigan and Alabama. And Michigan looks like it could very well win out.
