New Michigan Man: RB Hassan Haskins Commits to Michigan

Michigan has been in need of some more fire power on offense and on the recruiting trail. And though the offense has yet to find it, the staff added an intriguing offensive weapon to the 2018 recruiting class as Eureka (MO) RB Hassan Haskins has committed to Michigan.

Commitment

Scouting Report

If you only watch Haskins’ sophomore and junior tape, you can see why he’s a lower rated prospect. Though he flashes signs of being a good prospect in that tape, he still had a ways to go to be a Power 5 prospect. And that improvement looked to happen over the summer as his senior tape shows a much physically mature runner that showcases his agility and size. His frame, raw talent and ability to make cuts on a dime makes him a very intriguing player.

While I’m in no way saying he’s the next Adrian Peterson or a recruit on his level but Haskins’ straight up, tough-nosed, churn out every yard possible running style reminds me a lot of the All-Pro’s.

Recruitment

Haskins burst onto the scene recently after receiving his offer from Michigan in mid-October. With offers from some MAC-level programs, he quickly jumped at the chance to check out what the Wolverines have to offer. He set up an official visit for Michigan’s next available home game, against Rutgers. And, as expected, Haskins didn’t need to see too much before making up his mind. He committed to Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan program before leaving campus.

Highlights

As for the Rest of the Class

Haskins is the 15th overall commitment, the 2nd running back commit and the first commit out of Missouri. The only other running back to looks to be on the board is ATH Michael Barrett but it’s unknown if he’ll still be a take after Haskins’ addition. As for the state of Missouri, the #2 player in the state, DT Michael Thompson, is likely Michigan’s best chance to land.
