New Michigan Man: 2019 OL Nolan Rumler Commits to Michigan

The 2017 BBQ at the Big House was expected to bring in at least one commitment for the Wolverines football program and it didn’t take long to happen. As long time UM lean, 2019 Archbishop Hoban) OL Nolan Rumler committed to Michigan to kick off the huge recruiting event.

Commitment

Scouting Report

Rumler is one of those old school offensive lineman that Michigan has been known to have throughout the years. Since his freshmen year of high school, he’s been a dominant, physical road grader and has continued to improve into a more well-rounded lineman since then. Though there’s plenty of time to go until he actually enrolls at Michigan, he has the look of a multiple year starter in the Maize and Blue. Whether that’s at guard or tackle is remained to be seen.

Recruitment

There haven’t been many recruits that I can think of that have been leans to Michigan as long as Rumler. He grew up a big fan of the Wolverines and looked likely to end up signing with the Wolverines as soon as he received his offer back in October of 2015. Though he took his time to pull the trigger and allowed plenty of teams to throw their hat into the ring, it always was expected to be Michigan in the end. That’s why he was the first Crystal Ball selection I put in after receiving those abilities. And he ended up following through with the commitment by jumping on board at the staff’s biggest recruiting event of the year.

Highlights

As for the Rest of the Class

Rumler is the 2nd commitment of the 2019 class, the first offensive lineman and the first commit out of Ohio. But he won’t be the last commitment out of the BBQ. Plenty of Michigan coaches have hinted on Twitter about another commitment. And it’s expected to be a big timer. As for offensive lineman that could jump on board with Rumler in 2019, OT Trevor Keegan is the best bet early on. Other names to watch throughout the class are OT Devontae Dobbs, OT Logan Brown, OT Spencer Brown, OT Will Putnam and OL Michael Tarquin.
