To kick off the official start to the 2016 Michigan football fall camp, we’ve broken down each incoming freshmen football signee. That includes their scouting report, 2016 season prediction as well as a quote from one of their positional coaches.
Michael Dwumfour, Wayne (NJ) De Paul Catholic
- Position: Defensive Tackle
- Height/Weight: 6’2, 310 pounds
- Commitment Date: January 26th, 2016
Scouting Report: Dwumfour proved to be unblockable for his offensive linemen counterparts at De Paul Catholic. He always seemed to perfectly time his rush toward the line of scrimmage and get to the ball. Dwumfour’s explosiveness helped him beat and shed blockers from the snap.
True Freshman Projection: Dwumfour will definitely have a chance early on to earn a spot in the middle of the defensive line rotation, much like Maurice Hurst did last season. He is going to be competing with Ryan Glasgow and Bryan Mone for snaps at nose tackle. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he plays spot snaps in every game to lose his redshirt though he now looks to be battling a fellow freshmen lineman in Michael Onwenu for those spots.
Don Brown Quote: “He’s an inside guy along our defensive front. Michael is very explosive, can separate on the double team and has good lateral movement. He comes from a great family. Michael’s a passionate football guy and will be an unbelievable addition to our front and the Michigan football program.”
Greg Mattison Quote: “Mike is a very good defensive tackle that has explosion and an ability to run. He plays very hard and gives you size as well as quickness on the interior of the defensive line. Mike will be a valuable addition to our defensive line and to the Michigan family.”
