Bold predictions. It’s the one way a person can say something they hope happens without being crazy enough to say it will happen. And that is what we have here. My five boldest of the bold predictions for the 2015 Michigan football season and Team 136 aka Jim Harbaugh’s first team as head coach:
1. Zach Gentry is Named Starting QB vs Utah
- Why it could happen:
- Open competition
- Rudock is safe and experienced but Gentry is more of a game changer
- Why it won’t happen:
- Rudock is safe and has the experience
- Gentry played vs lower level talent in HS
- Odds of it happening: 10%
2. Jabrill Peppers is a September Heisman Candidate
- Why it could happen:
- Most explosive player on the roster
- Should see time at kick/punt returner, and possibly on offense
- Why it won’t happen:
- Very tough to do, especially as a RS Freshmen safety.
- Unknown how much time he’ll see on offense or special teams.
- Odds of it happening: 5%
3. Michigan Beats both Rivals
- Why it could happen:
- Both games at home
- The Harbaugh effect
- Elite defense
- Why it won’t happen:
- Both MSU and OSU are very talented and very experienced
- Michigan’s offense is very questionable
- Odds of it happening: 20%
4. Michigan makes the 2015-16 CFB Playoffs
- Why it could happen:
- Harbaugh effect
- Why it won’t happen:
- Young, inexperienced team that will make mistakes against tough opponents
- Odds of it happening: 1%
5. 6 Wolverines are Drafted in the 2016 NFL Draft
- Why it could happen:
- Plenty of talent on the roster, especially on defense
- Staff’s coaching abilities and connections
- Why it won’t happen:
- Michigan hasn’t had more than 3 players drafted since 2008 (6)
- Odds of it happening: 10%
