It’s been more than two months since the Wolverines have added a commitment to their 2018 class but that small delay ended today. Before even making his first trip to Ann Arbor, Stephenson (GA) OG Jalil Irvin has committed to Michigan.

Irvin may not be the top ranked guard in the class but he’s a guy that has the natural abilities to quickly rise up the rankings throughout the cycle. He’s still a little raw in his technique and has more weight to add but his athleticism and feet are his best traits. With some natural growing and weight training, he should be a really nice addition to the class.
As for his recruitment, Michigan was one of Irvin’s first and only offers. And thanks to originally being from the Great Lakes State, he’s been thinking about committing to the Wolverines since receiving that offer from Chris Partridge. Though it looked like he would wait until he visited campus, the Georgia transplant decided to publicly announce his commitment in early June (just a day after his coach let the cat out of the bag).
- Height: 6’4”
- Weight: 275lbs
- Hometown (School): Stone Mountain, GA (Stephenson)
- Notable Offers: Illinois, Tulane
- Rankings: Scout (NR) – Rivals (NR) – 247 (NR) – ESPN (NR)
As for the Rest of the Class: Irvin is the 3rd overall commit and the 1st offensive lineman and 1st commit out of Georgia in this class. With him on the board, the staff already looks to have a great chance at adding another guard in Marquan McCall over the next couple months. Other top OL targets include Brey Walker, Jackson Carman, Antwan Reed, Richard Gouraige, Nicholas Petit-Frere and Emil Ekiyor.
