2018 All-American Games Recap: Michigan Commits and Targets

Michigan’s 2018 recruiting class may be outside of the top 10 heading into National Signing Day but it features several All-Americans. That includes two commits at the Under Armour game on January 4th, three commits at the US Army All-American game on January 6th and one in the Offense-Defense Bowl.

Check out the tweets and highlights from Michigan’s 2018 All-American signees, commits and top targets:

US Army All-American Game

DE Aidan Hutchinson – Signee

Hutchinson was the defensive standout of the game. He put together the type of week long performance that should see him rocket up the final 2018 player rankings:

OT Jalen Mayfield – Signee

Mayfield is a guy that’s flown under the radar throughout this recruiting cycle but finally got his chance to show his talents this past weekend. And he didn’t disappoint.

LB Cam McGrone – Signee

McGrone is one of the top gets in this class for Harbaugh and flashed his talent throughout the week. He finished with three total tackles and one TFL:

Under Armour All-American Game

TE Mustapha Muhammad – Signee

Muhammad is another big time land for Michigan and though he’s one of the top tight ends in the class, he didn’t get much of a chance to show off his skills throughout the week:

CB Myles Sims – Signee

Sims is the crown jewel of the class but he was unable to really show off his talents during the game. However, he was able to show off that unreal length while playing safety during practice:

OT Nicholas Petit-Frere – Target

Petit-Frere is the most needed target on the board. As the top offensive tackle in the class and physically ready to play, he’s a guy that could completely change the outlook of this class. But Michigan has work to do in the final weeks with Notre Dame, Florida, Ohio State and Alabama pushing. Petit-Frere’s an extremely impressive recruit as both a player and student, and he showed it all off during his week:

WR JaMarr Chase – Target

Chase is another highly rated player that could change the look of the class and one that Michigan looks to be in the top 2-3 for heading into NSD. Can the Wolverines pull this one off? It would be a big shock and I wouldn’t bet on it. LSU looks to be the favorite after former favorite, TCU, was recently dropped from consideration. As for the Under Armour week/game, he was injured and sat it out:

Offense-Defense Bowl

OLB Otis Reese – Commit

Reese is the top name to watch for Michigan fans heading into National Signing Day. He’s technically the longest tenured commit but has long been getting pushed hard by in-state Georgia hard enough for him to receive several Crystal Balls to the Bulldogs. However, it’s not a foregone conclusion just yet. As you can see in the picture below, he’s still showing Michigan some love and, as far as I know, Michigan isn’t planning on losing him. This is a close one but with the state of Michigan getting two
