New Michigan Man: 2017 QB Dylan McCaffrey Commits

Jim Harbaugh landed one of the top quarterbacks in the 2016 class in Brandon Peters and just landed his elite signal caller in the 2017 class as Valor (CO) QB Dylan McCaffrey has committed to Michigan.

McCaffrey is well known for his family (son of former NFL receiver Ed and brother of Stanford star running back Christian) but looks likely to make a big name for himself at the college level. He not only comes from a family full of elite athletes but he may be the best of the bunch. His size, athleticism, mechanics and pocket presence mixed with the tutelage of Jim Harbaugh gives him a chance to be a star in the Maize and Blue.

Oh yeah, he’s also a college basketball prospect. You know how Harbaugh loves those duel athletes.

Like most quarterback recruits, McCaffrey ended his recruitment pretty early in the process and it wasn’t much of a surprise. From the day Michigan offered him, Michigan looked to be the perfect fit and the favorite. And even though most still had him pegged to follow his parents and brother Christian to Stanford, I included him in my first 2017 Best Guess Recruiting Class and never moved him off of it. Well, that confidence worked out as McCaffrey pulled the trigger out of the blue and announced his decision nearly a year after receiving his offer.

  • Height: 6’5”
  • Weight: 185lbs
  • Hometown/School: Littleton, CO (Valor)

As for the Rest of the Class: McCaffrey is the 5th commitment of the class and 1st quarterback. With him on the board, the staff and Dylan can turn their attention to hauling in the top wide receivers and offensive lineman in the class, including WR Donovan Peoples-Jones, OT Isaiah Wilson and OL Tedarrell Slaton.
