MGoFilm Analysis 2.1: Breaking Down Screens & Misdirection vs Purdue

In the second installment of the MGoFilm Analysis series, I take a look at Michigan’s defense against the many misdirection plays Purdue had against Michigan. There are essentially two plays that Purdue found continued success against the aggressive Don Brown defense:

  1. Screen Plays
  2. TE throwback drag

We can expect plenty of teams to try to incorporate plenty of screens and misdirection to help mitigate the teeth of this defense. These plays are designed to nullify Michigan’s terrifyingly good DL as well as any blitzing LBs or DBs. Overall, Michigan struggled at first, but eventually found ways to keep Purdue’s offense in check.
