DJ Durkin Officially Hired and Sending Out Offers

Jim Harbaugh has found his defensive coordinator and it\’s the name everyone has been expecting since the day he was hired.

First reported by Go Blue Wolverine\’s Sam Webb and confirmed by Rivals\’ Chris Balas247Sports\’ Steve Lorenz and FootballScoop\’s Zach Barnett, former Florida Gators defensive coordinator DJ Durkin will head the Michigan Wolverine defense.

While it\’s not known for sure when he exactly took over, Durkin didn\’t waste any time recruiting for the Maize and Blue as he extended two scholarship offers to underrated players at big time positions of need:

Blessed to be offered by The University of Michigan! 〽️

Charles Omenihu is a 3* defensive end out of Rowlett, TX and happens to be committed to Texas. His length and motor are the main things that jump off the screen when watching his film. Something that Michigan desperately needs at defensive end.

While he\’s still recruiting for the Longhorns, it looks like Michigan has a decent shot here. Otherwise, I doubt they would have extended an offer.

That wasn\’t the only offer to go out today:

#SouthCarolina CB commitment Damon Arnette says #Michigan has offered. @KyleBogie

Damon Arnette is committed to South Carolina at the moment but has been opened to taking visits and just so happened to already set up a visit to Ann Arbor for January 16th. He\’s also a name that Sam Webb mentioned this morning on The Michigan Insider and was a name that Steve Lorenz mentioned in his Cornerback Mini-Board ($).

After hearing his name, I checked out his highlights, and wow. How he\’s only rated as a 3* prospect blows my mind. His size (6\’2\’\’ 185lbs) and aggressiveness will give him the chance to be a star at the next level.

As for Michigan\’s chances, I like them for both but believe they have a better shot at Arnette, especially after he visits Ann Arbor.
