New Michigan Man: TE Erick All Commits to Michigan

After signing three tight ends in the 2018 class and great depth already at the position, tight end wasn’t a huge need in the 2019 class. But that didn’t stop the staff from adding a very nice prospect with a high upside as Fairfield (OH) TE Erick All has committed to Michigan during his visit to campus this weekend.

Scouting Report

All is a very intriguing prospect. He’s far from a finished tight end as he has plenty of size to add to his frame and things to tighten up with his blocking but he has the natural size, athleticism, route running ability and hands to be a problem in the passing game. Targeted by some as a wide receiver, he is a mismatch nightmare for cornerbacks because of his size and linebackers because of his fluidness. Luckily with the depth chart, he’ll have time to put on the size needed to play at the next level. Once he does, he could become a favorite target for the Wolverines signal callers.

Recruitment

All has been a name that has been rising up recruiting boards all spring, including Michigan’s. According to The Wolverine’s Adam Ghabour, the staff had been targeting All for a minute before he received his offer ($). Linebacker’s Coach Al Washington and Tight End’s Coach Sherrone Moore have been driving forces behind Michigan’s recent uptick in Ohio recruiting and they got their guy here.

Michigan missed out on a couple top targets early on, including Luke Deal to Auburn. Once that happened, Michigan ramped up the pressure on All. His camp performances mixed with his high ceiling clearly caught the staff’s eye. I put him on my late May class prediction and he made me look smart by committing to the staff during his visit to campus for the mega recruiting weekend in June.

Highlights

As for the Rest of the Class

All is the 12th overall commitment, the first tight end commitment, and the sixth commitment out of Ohio. The staff is clearly making the Buckeye state a priority in this class with the top player in the state, DE Zach Harrison, being, arguably, the top overall target left on the staff’s board. Another name out of Ohio to watch is DT Rodas Johnson, who’s teammates with another recent commit, VLB Joey Velazquez. As for the tight end position, TE Isaiah Foskey looks to be the top name on the board with recently offered TE Josiah Miamen as a potential second tight end option for down the road.
