New Michigan Man: K/P Quinn Nordin

Harbaugh and the staff are back into Flipmode Squad once again as they have flipped and landed the commitment of, now former Penn State commit, Rockford (MI) K/P Quinn Nordin.

Nordin is the nation’s #1 kicker, according to Kornblue Kicking, and will likely see the field very early for Michigan. He has the leg strength to be a game changer in all three kicking facets, which UM will need starting in 2016. Though he’ll likely stick with being just a kicker as Blake O’Neill and the Aussie Style punters have won the hearts of the fans and staff which means they’ll likely go that route again for their punter.

As for his recruitment, Nordin looked very likely to commit to Michigan after receiving his offer in the spring from the staff. However, there were rumors that he wasn’t a take for the staff so instead of pledging to the Wolverines, he made a ton of noise with his private plane commitment video to Penn State. Well, that was all for nothing as once the staff realized how badly a legit kicker was needed in 2016, he became a top priority once again.

After several visits to Michigan, a sleepover with Harbaugh and being a rumored flip for months, Nordin finally made the decision to join the class on National Signing Day.

  • Height: 6’1”
  • Weight: 200lbs
  • Notable Offers: Penn State, Georgia, Michigan State, Arizona State
  • Rankings: Scout (4*, #1 K) – Rivals (3*, #1 K) – 247Sports (3*, #1 K) – ESPN (3*, #9 K)

As for the Rest of the Class: Nordin is the 27th overall commit, 1st special teams commit and the 3rd commit out of Michigan. There aren’t any other special teamers left on the board so the staff can now sit back and wait to see what happens with the likes of DT Rashan Gary, DE Connor Murphy and TE Devin Asiasi.
