New Michigan Man: DT Jordan Elliott

Michigan hosted it’s biggest recruiting visitors weekend of the year for the Ohio State game, which included several elite official visitors. And they ended up landing one of the top targets on campus as Westside (TX) DT Jordan Elliott committed to the Wolverines.

Elliott is one of the top defensive lineman in the country and was near the top of the staff’s board for months thanks to his versatility. He has the size to play the one technique and the athleticism to play the three technique, which should make him a player that can contribute early on in his career.

Landing his commitment is pretty huge but will obviously be one to watch until he signs his LOI on National Signing Day as he has already committed and decommitted from two different programs (Baylor and Houston). However, things do look good for Michigan to land that signature as Wolverine247’s Steve Lorenz has heard from a source close to the situation that his mom actually prefers for him to go to school away from Texas.

  • Height: 6’4”
  • Weight: 300lbs
  • Notable Offers: Texas, Baylor, USC, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, LSU, Alabama, Florida State
  • Rankings: Scout (4*, #102 overall) – Rivals (3*, #38 DT) – 247Sports (4*, #98 overall) – ESPN (4*, #47 overall)

As for the Rest of the Class: Elliott is the 22nd commitment of the class (though that number is likely to drop in the not-so-distant future), the 3rd defensive line commit and the 1st defensive tackle commit. That’s big because DT was one of the class’ biggest needs and there aren’t many better than Elliott. As for the ones that are better (rankings wise), Michigan is sitting pretty with the top DT and player in the class, Rashan Gary, as well as DL Keyshon Camp and DT Chris Daniels, though he looks like he could definitely end up at Oklahoma).
