New Michigan Man: LB Elysee Mbem-Bosse

There were a lot of needs in the 2016 class for the staff but there isn’t one that looked like a bigger “must-fill” spot than linebacker thanks to the holes on the depth chart. Well, the staff just added one of the highest ceiling targets on the board as Cedar Grove (GA) LB Elysee Mbem-Bosse has committed to Michigan.

Mbem-Bosse is a big, nasty inside linebacker that has the athleticism to play sideline to sideline and match up with tight ends, something UM desperately needs on the roster. Though he’s raw, his size and speed combination could help him become a very nice player in the Maize and Blue for years to come.

For a great example of his athleticism and nastiness, fast forward his highlights below to the 1:00 minute mark. Thank me later.

As for his recruitment, Michigan had been targeting him for awhile but looked to be a forgotten offer by most as he looked to be favoring Auburn and NC State when he was expected to decide in December. However, he held off on those plans and the Wolverines jumped on their opportunity.

With time running out on the cycle and linebacker being a big need, the staff ramped up their pressure and got him on campus for an official visit. Thanks to that visit, the staff wantin him as much as they did and his budding friendship with DE Joshua Uche, Mbem-Bosse committed to the Wolverines along with Uche just hours after leaving campus.

As for the Rest of the Class: Mbem-Bosse is the 24th commitment overall, 4th linebacker and the 1st commit out of Georgia. With him on board, the staff will also try to add LB Jonathan Jones to the class though, from all reports, he looks to be swaying towards South Bend.
