New Michigan Man: CB Antwaine Richardson

In a surprise move, Michigan has landed it’s 11th commitment of the class when 2016 Atlantic (FL) CB Antwaine Richardson has committed to Harbaugh and the Wolverines.

Richardson is a long, athletic, play making corner that has the ability to match up with top receivers on opposing teams and win the jump ball. That is a big reason why the staff felt like he was needed in this class. The cornerback depth chart will be in shambles after 2015, especially corners with enough size to match up with big, tall receivers.

As for his recruitment, it was a quick and easy one for Michigan. After seeing Richardson in person at the camp in Miami, the staff quickly offered him, joining the likes of Miami (FL) and Wisconsin. And after weighing his options, the chance to be coached by the Wolverines staff and play along side former teammate, now Wolverine DE Shelton Johnson, was the best option for him.

  • Height: 6’0”
  • Weight: 170lbs
  • Notable Offers: Miami (FL), Wisconsin, West Virginia, Rutgers
  • Rankings: Scout (NR) – Rivals (3*) – 247 (3*, #88 CB) – ESPN (NR)

As for the Rest of the Class: Richardson is the 11th commitment, 1st true DB commit and the first of, what I believe will be, a nice recruiting weekend for Michigan. With the Flanagan HS trio (Bush Jr, Gil and Metellus) coming to town, I could see at least one of them pull the trigger to join the 2016 class.
