Crystal Ballin: Wilson and Faison-Walden to Michigan

There are a couple positions in the 2017 recruiting cycle that are priorities for the Michigan staff. Two of the most needed, thanks to depth issues, are at offensive tackle and hybrid safety. And after doing some digging, gathering as much information as necessary and going off of some gut feelings, I’ve put in Crystal Ball predictions for two of the staff’s top targets in Poly-Prep (NY) OT Isaiah Wilson and Grimsley (NC) S/OLB Brelin Faison-Walden to Michigan.

Wilson has been a priority recruit for the Michigan coaching staff since they started the 2017 recruiting process. This heavy pursuit, mixed with the educational and football opportunities in Ann Arbor has had the Wolverines at/near the top of the four star tackle’s list for over a year now. And though Alabama made, and continues to make, a strong push for Wilson, his visit for the BBQ at the Big House looks to have solidified UM at the top of his list. An official visit is planned for the Indiana game in mid-November. If things go as planned, it’s hard to bet against UM here.

As for the Faison-Walden, he committed to Penn State on July 20th, just two weeks before he was supposed to visit Michigan for the BBQ. That visit obviously didn’t take place but he’ll be visiting Ann Arbor for the first time this weekend instead. This official visit is one to watch closely as, according to Wolverine247’s Steve Lorenz, the staff has ramped up their pursuit of the North Carolina standout ($) as he looks to be a perfect fit at the hybrid safety/linebacker position. Lorenz went ahead and put in his Crystal Ball flip to Michigan for Faison-Walden. With Penn State struggling once again and James Franklin’s seat as hot as ever, I went ahead and put in my flip prediction as well.
