2016 Freshmen Scouting Report: Carlo Kemp

To kick off the official start to the 2016 Michigan football fall camp, we’ve broken down each incoming freshmen football signee. That includes their highlights, scouting report and our 2016 season prediction.

Carlo Kemp, Boulder (CO) Fairview

  • Position: LB/DE
  • Height/Weight: 6’3” 255lbs
  • Commitment Date: November 8th, 2015

Scouting Report: Kemp could be listed as a bit of a tweener because of his natural build but that’s exactly what the staff was looking for in the 2016 class. His size allows him to play with his hand in the dirt while his athleticism will allow him to play at multiple linebacker positions, if need be. He has terrific instincts and a nose for the ball. And when he gets to the ball carrier, he has the ability to separate the opponent from the ball better than most in the class.

True Freshmen Projection: Thanks to his natural size and athleticism, as well as him enrolling early and getting in spring practices, Kemp should have a chance to contribute early on. Though it may be tough to get him on the field for meaningful snaps on defense, he is a player that could be an immediate impact as a special teams maverick. He’s another player who has a 50/50 shot of being redshirted this fall.
